CAD – Pattern Designer

Position Summary

Produce upholstery patterns for new designs and support updates/adjustments to current designs. This individual will be responsible for collecting data, including costs and specifications of patterns. This will include creating patterns for fabric, vinyl, and leather.

Essential Functions

• Interpret line drawings to set frame requirements to meet design specifications. • Extract data from Morgan MD Pattern Design and Lectra Formaris Furniture models to design fabric pattern components. • Interact with all members of the development team to create prototype models of new furniture. • Meet design deadlines. • Accurately interpret the designer's shape and contour details from 2-dimensional drawings and • create cover patterns to meet the design criteria. • Create prototype pattern shapes for all materials and verify that the components. • Meet design specifications. • Analyze and troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues. • Work successfully in a team environment. • Work closely with Cutting Department to ensure harmony and transparency within teams

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma/GED. Associate/Bachelor’s degree preferred. • 5 years of upholstery pattern making experience is highly desired. Must understand upholstery manufacturing processes. Must be able to multitask and react quickly to business needs • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Proven work experience as a Drafter or similar role • Experience with Morgan MD Pattern Design and Lectra Formaris Furniture is preferred • Ability to meet deadlines • Must be detail-oriented • Artistic and design skills a plus • 2-5 years’ experience designing patterns for upholstered furniture • Strong graphic design capabilities and design eye • Strong attention to detail • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative work environment
