QA Tech – Sewing Inspection

Position Summary

The QA Tech – Sewing Inspection will ensure quality standards are met before the product is distributed to Inside Upholstery.

Essential Functions

• Inspect fabric for defects in sewing – may inspect flat work or cushions • Examines for mispicks, slubs, runs, dropped stiches, holes or stains • May mark defects with chalk, thread, or tape • Communicate concerns about defects to Sewing Tech or Sewing Dept. Manager

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent • Works successfully with a team • Works efficiently in a fast-paced environment • High attention to detail • Excellent attendance • Previous experience in upholstery manufacturing inspection or other role preferred

Other Duties

As part of the Design Foundry team, all associates should have a willing attitude to assist in other areas as needed.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment can be moderate, with the steady sound of industrial sewing machines. The facility is temperature controlled, safe, and clean

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. To perform this role successfully requires the ability to stand consistently for an 8-hour shift and any additional overtime hours. To tend to the sewing machine, the QA Tech will need the use of arms, hands, fingers and have the ability to twist at the waist frequently turning and reaching. The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds of unfinished/finished fabric and materials. Walking required when moving carts to obtain fabric to be inspected, walking to sewing floor to pick up or drop off fabric. The ability to bend/twist slightly from the waist to move material around on table. Constantly push/pull/flip/turn fabric on table or onto conveyor using arms and hands; from a standing position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus to ensure the correct product is being produced for our customers.
