Sewing Machine Maintenance Mechanic
We have a new opportunity for a Sewing Machine Mechanic. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position will be responsible for the maintenance of industrial sewing equipment including preventive maintenance and unexpected machine repairs. We are looking for a skilled mechanic whose primary function will be to maintain and repair sewing machinery, but will also support other maintenance related duties in our facility . You will be responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of the machines.
An excellent mechanic must have manual dexterity and great attention to detail. They must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions. Inspect machines, run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues as needed Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components Replace components of machinery as necessary Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine users Support the production needs of the sewing department ensuring the department is capable of working in an efficient manner
Proven experience as Mechanic. Excellent knowledge of a variety of sewing machine models. Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g. calipers) Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction. A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines. Very good communication skills. A problem-solving ability. Very good physical strength and stamina
Assist with other facility maintenance projects as needed.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Ear and eye protection are required. The facility is temperature controlled, organized, safe and clean.
To perform this role successfully requires the ability to stand consistently for an 8-hour shift, 9 hours during overtime. Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Manual Dexterity -- The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. Finger Dexterity -- The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects. Near Vision -- The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Static Strength -- The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry machine parts. .
